Its been a long time running since I’ve blogged on Xanga. But I’m going to try to get this thing going again if only so I can try to get some commentary running and to find an outlet for all the reading I have been doing lately. Ideally I’d like this blog to relate to my many interests, particulary travel and business school. There are so many things that I like to talk about however, and this is what has always held me back. By spreading myself so thin, I could never cover anything in depth. But then when I try to concentrate on just one area, well then I start to feel like I’m missing out on something.
But instead of letting this stop me from writing, why not just go free form stream of conscience, and write about it all when it happens? After all, I’m not writing from some position of authority. If anybody reads this and finds it interesting or helpful then I will be not only surprised by flattered, but that really isn’t the point. I guess I could just write this in a word file on my computer, but really I need a set place to post my thoughts where I can take a look at them afterwards anytime I sit down at a computer with an internet connection. So I guess that one of the subconscious reasons for deciding on a weblog really is a desire is for someone to notice what I am writing after all.
I finally got a chapter into the new book by Tyler Cowen, Choose your own Economy, that I bought last month. It had some very interesting ideas about how the internet, and being interconnected allows people to have a more cultured, satisfying life experience. This ran contrary to many of my own thoughts on the subject, and so I was a bit skeptical reading his explanation, but it actually made a lot of sense. Plus it made a reference to Velazquez, which always will keep me reading.
more to come soon…
